OVERVIEW
Helioscreen offer a comprehensive range of architectural sunscreen mesh fabrics that meet the highest standards in sustainabilty for both residential and commercial applications. Foremost of which is the SERGE range of sunscreen fabric which is a PVC coated Fibre-Glass yarn mesh known for its stability, quality and performance.
PRODUCT DESCRIPTION
Woven in Belgium, the SERGE sunscreen range that Helioscreen use on Outdoor Blinds is eco-freindly and complies with the Oeko-Tex-100 standard. This means there are no harmful substances present nor heavy-metal content (lead, cadmium, tin). No formaldehyde and allergenic compounds are used in it’s manufacture, and the yarns are resistant to mould and bacterial growth. The fabric also complies to the latest REACH standards prescribed by the EU (Registration, Evaluation and restriction of CHemicals).
Being external, SERGE fabrics more effectively reduce heat gain into buildings than internal blinds, while also effectively reducing internal glare and still allowing vision to the outside. They are also significantly lower in embodied energy than metal-based louvre or blade sunshade systems.
Significant reductions in the demand for air conditioning can be achieved, improving building comfort and reducing associated electricity consumption, HVAC, plant size and greenhouse gas emissions.
Serge fabric is designed for high durability, and is fire resistant.
This fabric can be used on both manual and automatic systems. Fully automated systems can handle self adjustment to specific climatic factors including temperature, wind, cloud cover, and can be isolated into 8 different zones for control purposes. Automated systems can also can be linked to an overall building management system (BMS).

Green Star™ Pre-Assessment of Helio 86 and 92 External Fabrics & Roller Blind System
Under Green Star™ (Office Interiors and Office Design)- IEQ Daylight Glare Control, this credit criteria specifies that fabrics used in blinds and screens must have a visual light transmittance (VLT) of less than 10%. Please note, only specific Helio 93 fabrics, highlighted in bold font in the above tables, will meet this Green Star™ criteria.
GREEN STAR™ OFFICE INTERIORS V1.1 COMPATIBILITY
IEQ-4 DAYLIGHT GLARE CONTROL
If 100% of exterior blinds or screens installed are Helio 86 and 92 External Fabrics & Roller Blind System, and connected to a BMS with manual override, use of these fabrics may contribute towards the possible achievement of 1 credit point.
NOTE – Fabric must have a visual light transmittance of less than 10%.
GREEN STAR™ OFFICE DESIGN V2 COMPATIBILITY
IEQ-5 DAYLIGHT GLARE CONTROL
If 100% of exterior blinds or screens installed are Helio 86 and 92 External Fabrics & Roller Blind System, and connected to a BMS with manual override, use of these fabrics may contribute towards the possible achievement of 1 credit point.
NOTE- Fabric must have a visual light transmittance of less than 10%.
ENE-1 ENERGY EFFICIENCY (CONDITIONAL REQUIREMENT)
If Helio 86 and 92 External Fabrics & Roller Blind System are installed in the base building, use of these fabrics should contribute towards reduced energy consumption of the building if included in the building energy load modelling process.
ENE – 2 ENERGY IMPROVEMENTS
If Helio 86 and 92 External Fabrics & Roller Blind System are installed in the base building, use of these fabrics will contribute towards improved overall energy efficiency of the building. This increased efficiency should be reflected in the energy load modelling process. (Maximum of 15 credit points can be achieved by improving energy efficiency in buildings).
